Upper West – eine Diva auf dem Weg zur Ikone
Mit seiner schlanken, eleganten Erscheinung ist Berlin seit Mai 2017 um ein Wahrzeichen reicher. Ein strahlend weißer Monolith mit seinem 118 Meter hohen Turm leuchtet schon aus der Ferne. Die geschwungene Kubatur mit der stufigen Verjüngung nach oben sowie die helle, durch versetzte Elemente strukturierte Fassade verleiht dem Turm eine ungewöhnliche Plastizität – aus welcher Richtung auch immer der Betrachter seinen Blick auf das neue Hochhaus wirft. Das Upper West am Berliner Breitscheidplatz hat besten Voraussetzungen, zu einer Markenpersönlichkeit zu avancieren.
Bereits 1994 entwickelte Professor Christoph Langhof die ersten Pläne für das Hochhaus. Genau an dem Ort des heutigen Upper West war damals sein Büro. Das Planungsrecht wurde bereits 2003 erwirkt, die Baugenehmigung in den Jahren 2005 und 2013 erteilt. Baubeginn war schließlich im Jahr 2014, nach nur vier Jahren war der weiße Turm fertig. Das Hochhaus mit dem wohlklingenden Namen „Upper West“, in Anlehnung an seine Position in der Berliner City West, bekam von Beginn an Zuspruch aus der Bevölkerung, von der Politik sowie den Medien. Von einem „Neuen Wahrzeichen für Berlin“ (Berliner Morgenpost) ist die Rede, ebenso wie von einem „Haus der Superlative“ (Berliner Zeitung) oder „mit dem Upper West, so viel ist sicher, schreitet die Aufpolierung der City West voran“ und „es markiert den Ort leuchtend weiß und allansichtig“ (Deutsche Bauzeitung). Bis dahin war es ein langer Weg gegen viele Widerstände. Mehr als 20 Jahre hat es gedauert von den ersten Entwürfen bis hin zum fertigen Gebäude.

Each digital item you order is delivered Print-ready to you, so you can order and send it to any online Print On Demand service (POD) of your choice and at your convenience. They are great POD services operating world-wide – next to you!

How to buy a digital photo and poster:

Final Online Delivery:
Upon completion of the Purchase and after Full Payment is received by the Seller, including all your Local applicable VAT Taxes (more information below), the Full item(s) in Full Size and Resolution will be delivered and made available to you in ‘Downloads’ under your Account. Note that this may take a few days at the most to be available for you in Full (at the most), due to checking against our Bank account balance and manufacturing the item(s) personally to fit your specific requests.
